Kenyatta University IPTCC has been recognized with the Premier Award in recognition of its outstanding commitment to advancing the success of students and instructors within the Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad) program.

The award was presented on 12th February during the Cisco Networking East Africa Conference, held at the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) in Nairobi. The conference brought together educators, technology leaders, and Cisco Networking Academy partners from across the East African region to celebrate innovation, collaboration, and excellence in digital skills training.

The recognition highlights the continued efforts of Kenyatta University’s IPTCC in equipping learners with industry-relevant digital and networking skills through the Cisco Networking Academy. Over the years, the academy has played a critical role in preparing students, professionals, and members of the wider community for careers in networking, cybersecurity, and emerging digital technologies.

Through high-quality instruction, hands-on training, and mentorship of instructors, the Kenyatta University Cisco Academy continues to contribute to building a strong digital workforce in Kenya and the broader East African region. The Premier Award underscores the academy’s dedication to delivering impactful training and fostering a supportive learning environment that enables both students and instructors to succeed.

One of the key highlights of the conference was a session on Bridging the Skills Gap Between Industry and the Education Sector, where representatives from industry and academia exchanged ideas on how stronger collaboration can enhance skills development and create greater impact across Africa. The discussion also examined connectivity challenges and emphasized the need for joint efforts to reduce the digital divide.The representatives emphasized the importance of partnerships between universities, industry, and training institutions in closing the digital skills gap and empowering the next generation of technology professionals.
